N.B. Where top and bottom sashes are different heights, balances should be placed in the groove before sashes are fitted. When replacing, this may not be possible.
- Check that stops are fitted to top and bottom of window opening to stop sash from opening fully.
- The 2 short balances in a set of 4 are fitted to the top sash. The long ones to the bottom sash, length differential is 50mm.
- Fix balances at the top of window opening. Be sure they line up with the sash groove and are vertical.
- With bottom sash at it's highest position, wind sash attachment to the left until it retracts against the bottom rail of the sash. Pull the attachment down a few times. If it does not return to the bottom rail add another turn or two. Pull attachment down, without releasing the applied turns, and add three or more turns to the left. Temporarily attach sash.
- Repeat operations on the opposite side.
- Raise and lower sash. If it falls at the highest position, add a turn or two: if harder to pull down than to lift, release a turn, until the sash operates evenly up and down. Screw attachments firmly in position.
- Repeat operations for top sash.
DO NOT bend the spiral rod when applying turns.
DO NOT allow the sash attachment to foul the frame jamb.
